About the Mid-Michigan Library League

The Mid-Michigan Library League (MMLL) serves 36 public libraries in 15 counties of Michigan's lower peninsula. The member libraries are divided into nine groups, each with a representative on the Board of Trustees.  MMLL is one of Michigan's eleven library cooperatives, formed by PA 89 of 1977.  The Plan of Service is updated annually, based on the needs of the membership. 

Services of the Mid-Michigan Library League include:

  • Administrative Services - policy development, finance, personnel, grants management, information technology, consultation and advocacy.
  • Continuing Education - in person and online training for library staff and trustees.
    Interlibrary Loan/Integrated Library Systems - information and assistance for libraries joining the MeLCat resource sharing system; assistance with selection and implementation of local ILS.
  • Advisory Council - conduit for member library input into desired cooperative services and communication between members, trustees and administration.
  • Discounts - negotiated discounts for library materials, databases, supplies, telecommunication services, and other volume-based purchases.
  • Website and e-List - established tools for sharing valuable information, events, grant opportunities, training resources and more.
  • Delivery - payment for the "RIDES" delivery service for all member libraries to facilitate the exchange of physical materials.
  • Reference - research and consulting services for all member libraries.
  • Technology Support - consultation on broadband connectivity, public access computing, integrated library systems, and credit for on-site support as funds are available.
    Service Initiatives - as funds allow, MMLL will implement initiatives to benefit the membership such as grant programs and rotating special collections.
  • e-Resources - as funds allow, MMLL will purchase access to e-resources such as language learning and streaming content made available to patrons of all MMLL libraries as a part of cooperative membership.
  • Employee Support Services - as funds allow, MMLL may provide employee support services such as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) available to any staff employed by a member library. 
  • Legal Assistance - One hour of legal services provided by Anne Seurynck of Foster Swift Attorneys.
