April 10th Advisory Council to have speaker about Address Confidentiality Program

Karen Hall, ACP Program Manager, from the Michigan Attorney General’s office will present on the Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) at the April 10 Advisory Council meeting (via Zoom).

In December 2020, Governor Whitmer signed the Address Confidentiality Program Act.  This Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) is designed to protect victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking, or others who fear that revealing their physical address could increase their risk of harm. Administered by the Michigan Department of Attorney General, the program provides participants with a substitute address that can be used for official purposes, such as with government agencies, employers, and schools. ACP also offers free mail forwarding services to ensure participants' actual addresses remain confidential.

It is important for Library's to know about the ACP, follow ACP guidelines and review their circulation policies to make sure they accommodate ACP participants.
